The following 70's bands from Coventry are put together in this post as I don't have a lot of info on them.
Reine Chantrey c1972
More or less the same line up as Eli (blogged about on another post) and a development from the earlier Mick Green Blues band, featureing Mick Green, Mojo Tony Morgan, Simon Lovegrove, Johnny Adams. Played the Navigation and Boatyard among other venues but soon changed name to Eli.
ROCKING CHAIR
Drummer Al Docker joined this band around 1970 I think. Heavy rock band that played the Umbrella Club but I can't
say much more about them. However there was at least one gig in London
at the Torrington with Alan Bown advertised in Melody Maker.
ROGATION SUNDAY
Same band as Acorn (see their post). I booked Acorn for the Umbrella Club in 1970 but their manager sent me a letter
and they had changed their name to Rogation Sunday.
See Acorn for more details.
ROGUE
Rogue was the larger version of Elf both of which lived up to their names! Associated with the Broadgate Gnome in 1970. See Elf for more information!
RUDI TCHICHOSKI c 1974 (London band)
In 1974 Hobo based itself for a while in the offices of the Sunshine Music Agency on Gulson Rd. (See Sunshine posts for more details on them). Craig Ward, one of the directors, suggested I go over to Nuneaton to one of their discos to sell Hobo and make contacts in Nuneaton. I did and met Brian of Alice Sounds disco at the Dugdale Arms. Brian became our Nuneaton correspondent for a while. He wrote a review of a Rudi Tchichosky gig -
"Friday last saw Rudi Tchichosky at the Girls High School, Nuneaton (24th March 1974). A band in the same vain as Genesis / Yes who produced some interesting material. Featuring bass / keyboards / drums / lead and vocals. The lead guitar ws fast with help from his Wah Wah / Fuzz and Copy Cat pedals. A backing track was used a lot..The bass could have been a bit louder.. the vocalist in his Roy Wood make up had a driving good voice. The drummer had lines like a spider painted on his face. To sum up they gave a good clean, but still very heavy evening of sonic sound. 200 people came along, mostly from Coventry and area."
RUFUS REBELS 1963 - 66
This group were mentioned on the internet in the index of British Rock bands during that period.
