Got an e mail from Peter Clemons -
"Hi Trev, I have, for a few years, been putting together a 50 year database (1960-2010) that covers bands to have played in Cov. It covers not just the big bands whose tour included a Cov date but also local bands (30000-40000 dates in it so far). Starting back in Jan it has been featured in the telegraph on the last Friday of each month. I am really pleased with the interest generated and the telegraph have asked if I will do it again through 2011 -
In parallel and amongst the, 30,000+ gig dates for Coventry that I have on my database is a list of folk artists to have played in Cov since about 1965. It covers folk clubs at the Binley Oak, Cov folk club at all its various venues, The Fletch, Burnt Post, Pitts Head, White Lion Brinklow and many more.
In a couple of months I will have completed the bulk of the listings and in 2011 will be releasing more articles to the telegraph. Not just rock/pop this time but folk as well."
Peter asked me if I would draw attention to these in relevant places. I think this Coventry Music site might be just that. Here are the samples that he's sent me. Look out for his column in Coventry Telegraph on the last Friday of each month.
